Platform Description

SCANDIC YACHTS is an online platform for presenting and facilitating yacht and charter offers from licensed partners. The platform may include, among other things, detailed trip/route searches, interactive maps, and user profiles. As part of the SCANDIC brand alliance, SCANDIC YACHTS leverages the expertise and resources of Legier Beteiligungs mbH.

Supervisory Authority

Industry-dependent. For mediation/marketing services, there is generally no specific sectoral supervision; general authorities are responsible (e.g., the trade office at the company’s registered office). Note: If specific permits/supervision apply to certain charter/shipping services, please specify the relevant authority (e.g., the competent district office).

Service Description

Skipper Requirements

  • National licenses and qualifications (e.g., SBF See/ICC or equivalent) are required to operate the yacht.
  • If the required certification is not available, hiring a professional skipper is mandatory.
  • In challenging areas or adverse weather conditions, we recommend hiring a skipper even if qualified.
  • Handover includes safety and area briefings; logbook maintenance is expected.

Operating Area

  • Primary areas of operation: Baltic Sea, Kattegat, Skagerrak, and Scandinavian coasts, including Norwegian fjords.
  • Particularities: tides, currents, narrow waterways, shipping regulations, variable weather.
  • Current area information, port guides, and electronic/printed nautical charts are provided.
  • Route planning is the responsibility of the crew, considering crew competence, weather, and daylight.

Flag State

  • Yachts operate under the flag of the respective registration state; its maritime law and safety requirements are binding.
  • All necessary ship documents (registration/approval, insurance proof) are on board.
  • Equipment and operations comply with the applicable regulations of the flag and coastal states.

Safety Standards

  • Safety equipment complies with applicable standards and national regulations (e.g., ISO/EN for recreational craft).
  • Personal rescue equipment for all persons on board (CE-compliant life jackets), signaling devices, fire extinguishers, first aid materials.
  • Navigation and communication equipment: GPS/plotter, VHF radio with DSC, AIS if applicable; regular maintenance with documented checks.
  • Mandatory safety briefing at the start of the charter, emergency and weather procedures, and 24/7 emergency contact.
